MuNDA opens its restoration storage facilities at the 16th-century Castle
Guided by restorations expert and with the support of historical images, visitors will be able to trace the history of artistic artifacts from the Abruzzo region that have long awaited care: panel and canvas paintings, liturgical furnishings, wooden and stone sculptures, polychrome terracotta, bronze and plaster works, and mural paintings. The prolonged stay of these works in unsuitable storage conditions from 2009 to 2022 led to biological deterioration, requiring urgent stabilization treatments and the consolidation of supports and materials. The opening of the storage areas in the eastern bastion offers a golden opportunity for the public to engage with the processes of preservation, conservation and restoration, and to explore the hidden side of the museum’s operations. Advanced booking is required for visits (held every Friday in November, with hourly sessions from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on weekends in December with three morning slots) via an online form on the museum’s official website:
