"Poesia e pittura nel Seicento. Giovan Battista Marino e la meravigliosa passione" exhibition at Galleria Borghese
“Poesia e pittura nel Seicento. Giovan Battista Marino e la meravigliosa passione" will be running from November 19, 2024, until February 9, 2025, at Galleria Borghese. The exhibition investigates, with an original project, the connection between poetry and painting, sacred and profane, literature, art and power in the early 17th century. Guided by the writings of Giovan Battista Marino (1569-1625), the exhibition traces a path through the great works of Renaissance and Baroque art - from Tiziano to Tintoretto, from Correggio to the Carracci, from Rubens to Poussin – celebrating the most prominent Italian poet in the 17th century and his passion for painting. Marino’s life and literature production are closely intertwined with the leading artists and masterpieces of early 17th century figurative art, with whom he interacted in the intellectual circles and prominent courts of his time.
